Pizaro Gozali Idrus. M.Sos. PhD (Cand)
Pizaro Gozali Idrus is an academic, journalist, and writer active in international relations issues, particularly concerning the Islamic world and the Middle East. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in International Relations at the Center for Policy Research, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
In his academic and activist roles, Pizaro is a member of The Indonesian Islamic Studies and International Relations Association (INSIERA), a reviewer for the Mondial Journal of Politics and International Relations at Al Azhar University Indonesia, and a lecturer at the Institute of Islamic Religion in Pemalang. He is also known as the Executive Director of the Baitul Maqdis Institute, a Humanitarian Ambassador for the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Council, and an expert board member of the Khidmat Indonesia Foundation for the Promised Land (KITA).
From 2017 to 2022, Pizaro served as an editor at the international news agency Anadolu Agency (Turkey). Since 2022, he has been a freelance journalist for Radio Free Asia (Washington D.C.), and since 2024, he has worked as a senior editor at Gazamedia.net.
In his journalistic career, Pizaro has covered various important events in the Islamic world and Southeast Asia, including the Syrian War, the Southern Thailand conflict, humanitarian aid to Gaza via Egypt, and negotiations between the Taliban and Afghanistan at the Indonesian Presidential Palace.
Pizaro is also known as a prolific writer who has published several books focusing on international relations, Palestine, and the Islamic world, such as: Hamas: The New Superpower of the Moslem World (2024), Indonesia’s Founding Fathers’ Vision for Palestine (2025), The Fall of the Assad Dynasty (2025)
His commentary and views on Middle Eastern issues frequently appear in Indonesian media outlets such as TV One, CNBC Indonesia, Rakyat Merdeka, Jawa Pos, Republika, TV Muhammadiyah, and others.
